The Kewanee Area United Way recently announced the launch of its annual Shoes for Kids campaign, an initiative dedicated to ensuring that every child in need entering PreK-eighth grade in the Kewanee school systems will have a new pair of shoes to start the year off right.
This year, the Kewanee Rotary Club Foundation is stepping up in a big way by pledging to match donations dollar-for-dollar up to the first $1,000 raised for the program. This generous commitment will help maximize the community’s impact, increasing the support for local children in need.
“The Shoes for Kids drive is one of the most important programs we support. Because having a good pair of shoes is essential for a child’s confidence, comfort, and success in school,” said Linda Blair, executive director of Kewanee Area United Way. “We’re thrilled to have the Kewanee Rotary Club’s support in making this year’s campaign even more impactful.”
“Kewanee Rotary is dedicated to supporting local youth and education initiatives,” said Jon Looney, president of the Kewanee Rotary Club. “We encourage the community to step up and give generously, knowing that we are helping to make the first $1,000 dollars go twice as far in helping our kids.”
Donations to the Shoes for Kids 2025 drive can be made through the Kewanee Area United Way by visiting kauw.org or by mailing contributions to: PO Box 426, Kewanee, IL 61443. Money raised will go directly toward supporting the Shoes for Kids Program, providing new shoes for children in need.
