Heritage Sunday at Bethlehem Apostolic Temple: songs, food, and history discussions

The Bethlehem Apostolic Temple in Wheeling held a Heritage Sunday service. Participants were able to sing heritage songs, dress in heritage clothing, and enjoy heritage food to celebrate their past. The event was open to the public.

The temple is now in its 90th year and, on Sunday, discussed some of its historical events, including the March on Washington in 1963.

“We are trying to say that everybody’s background is important because everybody’s background brought us to where we are right now, some people call America the great melting pot, and I understand it, but I disagree with it, said Pastor Darrell Cummings. “We believe that we should be the great stir fry because in a melting pot you lose your originality and, in a stir fry your accents to make the whole pot better.”

The temple plans to hold the Heritage Worship again next year.
