Post Falls receives finance certificate for 26th year in a row

POST FALLS — The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the city of Post Falls the certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting.

Jason Falkner, finance director and treasurer, said Post Falls is one of only six cities in Idaho that received the certificate for its work in the annual comprehensive financial report.

“It is truly a team effort,” Falkner said.

The financial reporting program was created to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements in the spirit of transparency and to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

Mayor Ron Jacobson lauded the finance department.

“It’s something we’ve become accustomed to,” he said.
