BLUE OUT: SDSU HOSTS NDSU WEDNESDAY – South Dakota State University Athletics

South Dakota State enters its final week of home games inside First Bank & Trust Arena. The Jackrabbits first take on North Dakota State in their annual Blue Out game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. They then host Kansas City at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Jackrabbits have a quick turnaround after an Interstate Series, presented by First Interstate Bank, victory in Vermillion on Sunday. SDSU fell down nine points early before closing the gap toward the end of the first half. The Jackrabbits shot over 50% in the second half and led by as many as 15 before closing out a 94-91 win over the Coyotes. SDSU has now won 10 straight games in the all-time series, the most by either program.

SDSU’s Oscar Cluff registered 21 points and 16 rebounds versus the Yotes. Consecutive double-doubles, with 25 points and 15 rebounds against Omaha in a victory on Thursday, earned him Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week accolades. Cluff has recorded 18 double-doubles this season. He leads the nation in 20-point, 15-rebound performances, while he and Auburn’s Johni Broome are the only DI men’s players who average 18 points, 7 rebounds & 3 assists per game.

The Jacks have won three straight games and eight of their last nine matchups. SDSU’s active win streak features victories over the top two teams currently in the standings. South Dakota State is 18-9 overall and 9-3 in conference play.

North Dakota State sits behind SDSU in the standings with an 8-5 conference record, while the Bison are 19-9 on the season. NDSU enters the contest second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (40.4%) and second in 3-point field goals per game made (12.2). NDSU’s Jacksen Moni ranks ninth in Division I and first in the conference averaging 20.6 points per game.

SDSU defeated NDSU 72-62 in Fargo on Jan. 30. The Jackrabbits rallied back from two first-half 13-point deficits. It was the team’s largest comeback during the 2024-25 season. SDSU eventually led 32-31 at halftime thanks to a 20-0 scoring run, then outshot NDSU 53-38% from the field in the second half en route to a victory.

The two teams completed an overtime affair last season in their matchup in Brookings on Feb. 1. The Bison eventually came away with a 74-73 win.
