FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – United Way of Allen County’s annual Community Food Drive kicked off on Monday.
Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana and Miss Virginia’s Food Pantry will benefit from the drive.
This year, United Way is also partnering with Salsa Grille. Non-perishable food items can be donated at any four of the restaurant’s locations:
- Salsa Grille North, 7755 Coldwater Rd;
- Salsa Grille Northeast; 5709 YMCA Pk. Dr. W.;
- Salsa Grille Coventry; 5735 Falls Dr.; and
- Salsa Grille Taqueria; 2031 Broadway.
Needed items include canned meat/protein, peanut butter and boxed dinners. For a full list of items, click here.
Brandi Buck, Executive Director of United Way of Allen County, said food banks are often depleted after the holidays.
“Our community food drive is intended to help meet that need,” she said.
United Way of Allen County hopes to surpass last year’s total of nearly 7,000 pounds of donated food. Monetary donations can be made here or by texting FOOD25 to 41444.
The drive ends March 4.
