This patent, filed in August 2023, shows a detailed structure of the controllers’ interior. Joy-Cons will work as input devices and include “a sensor for mouse operation” that detects “reflected light from a detected surface.” This possibly means players can use Joy-Con on a flat surface, similar to a mouse. If this feature is indeed implemented, shooters like Marvel Rivals would have a better experience.
Nintendo promises to share more about Nintendo Switch 2 at the upcoming Nintendo Direct conference on April 2, 2025. It’s also confirmed that various events will be held in some cities starting in April so players can experience the new console.
