Shasta County extends deadline for CalFresh clients to replace food lost from storm impact

On Friday, February 14, the Shasta County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) said CalFresh clients can apply to replace food lost to power outage, flooding, and disaster until March 6.

In a press release, HHSA said due to winter storm impacts they have gained approval to waive the 10-day deadline for CalFresh clients to request replacement benefits. These benefits can be from a result of power outages, or storm flooding that began on February 3 or due to some other disaster.

HHSA said any household that has lost food purchased with CalFresh benefits will have through Thursday, March 6 to request replacement benefits. The extension period applies to all households in the county who request food-loss replacement benefits for any reason, including other disasters.

According to HHSA, benefit replacement can be requested in-person at a regional office, by calling HHSA’s customer service center at 877-652-0731 or online HERE.

For in-person service you can visit their offices from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday- Friday.
