Alabama “Kids First” Group Come To Tuscaloosa For Event

Adoptions are down, especially internationally, for many reasons.

One group in Alabama is working to improve things and ensure that kids’ needs come first.

AGAPE of Central Alabama, with an office in Tuscaloosa, began its mission in 1978 and it continues with an event in Tuscaloosa next month.

Steve Duer, Executive Director of AGAPE, told us the event in Tuscaloosa on March 4th is so important it’s an annual event.

Duer says the stories from people impacted by the AGAPE staff and mission who say things like “Your team showed me Jesus and they never had to say a word” confirm his calling.

AGAPE of Central Alabama’s goal is to provide safe, permanent families for vulnerable children. Foster and adoptive parents are a key piece of their work as well as providing resources for pregnant women in our community.

The event on March 4th is called “Love Matters” and is a benefit dinner held at The Church at Tuscaloosa. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Robinson’s BBQ is catering the event this year.

Steve Duer reminds us that “Kids’ needs come first”. He says the need is strong for more families willing to partner with them and others who will take the message back to their home churches to help spread the word.
