BOCA RATON, Fla. – Following their 6-0 start to the 2025 season, No. 19 Florida Atlantic softball team earned multiple weekly honors from the American Athletic Conference. Junior Autumn Courtney has been named AAC Pitcher of the Week, while junior catcher Chloe Yeatts received an honorable mention.
With both making their Owl debut during the FAU-hosted Paradise Classic, they served as integral parts to a team that outscored their opponents 38-10 on the way to being nationally ranked at No. 19 by Softball America
Courtney made a trio of stellar appearances in the circle: two as a starter (both complete games) and one in a relief role. She earned the victory in all three of them, making her the first Owl since 2018 to have three wins in the team’s first six games.
Joining FAU with 448 career strikeouts to her name from her time at Queens, she continued her tenacity of forcing swings and misses with a conference-best 30 strikeouts over the weekend, 12 more than the next highest pitcher in the AAC. Her first start saw her finish with 12 Ks as the Owls took down Big 12 opponent Kansas. Just 24 hours later, she recorded 13 strikeouts against Georgia State. In the final game of the Paradise Classic, also against Georgia State, she took on four innings of relief work and logged five Ks.
She also led the conference in innings pitched (18) while allowing just one earned run (second-best in the AAC with a 0.39 ERA) and five hits (tied for second least allowed in the conference).
Yeatts led the way for Owl batters. The transfer from New Mexico had nine hits (tied for the AAC lead alongside freshman teammate Bella Foran) in 17 at-bats with a team-best 1.167 OPS, and a slugging percentage of .588.
Her best outing of the weekend saw her 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a double in the Owls’ 11-0 win over Missouri State.
Florida Atlantic returns to FAU Softball Stadium for the Joan Joyce Classic from Thursday, Feb. 13 to 16.
