CVTC hosts Give Kids a Smile clinic

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Smiles are a little brighter on CVTCs campus Friday.

The college hosted its annual Give Kids a Smile clinic.

The event provides free dental care for children including cleaning, x-rays and fillings. Dentists and dental students from across the Chippewa Valley came together to make sure the event could happen.

The director of the dental hygiene program at CVTC says she loves to see their schedule full on this day.

“We want to make sure that as many children that need care or want care are able to get in and get the care that they need, so we reach out to the community and try to get them engaged and interested in coming in for the appointments,” said Debbie Schumacher, the dental hygiene program director.

The American Dental Association began the free day of dental care movement for children in 2003.

CVTC says it serves between 60 and 70 children each year.
