Company of Heroes 3: Fire & Steel DLC adds four new battlegroups this month

Developer Relic Entertainment has announced a new expansion for Company of Heroes 3. The Fire & Steel DLC will become available for PC in February 2025 and add four new battlegroups to the World War 2-themed RTS game, giving players access to fresh units and abilities in PvP and skirmish games.

The United States will be reinforced by the Heavy Weapons Battlegroup, which brings powerful heavy machine guns onto the field and can call in devastating off-map artillery support from the Black Dragon howitzers. It also comes with various half-track assault vehicles, 3-inch towed AT guns, and the M26 Pershing as its crown jewel.

The British will add the Canadian Shock Battlegroup to their roster. Canadian Shock Sections make for fast and deadly assault infantry that’s able to secure territory and build momentum. Their use of incendiary weapons is another hallmark and includes the availability of the mighty Churchill Crocodile flamethrower tank.

Moving over to the two German factions, some iconic vehicles are making their Company of Heroes 3 debut as well. The Wehrmacht will gain access to the Terror Battlegroup that uses psychological warfare to weaken its enemies — abilities like field interrogations, the Stuka’s Jericho Trumpet, and V1 rocket strikes will be at its disposal. The Terror Battlegroup can also provide powerful buffs to its infantry and fields the legendary Tiger II, better known as King Tiger, as its heavy tank.

The Afrikakorps’ upcoming Panzerjäger Kommand Battlegroup will add to this faction’s trickery by enabling it to use stalling tactics like roadblocks, minefields, and defensive positions in a more efficient manner to bring its mobile forces to bear at the right spot. Among the various anti-tank options at this battlegroup’s disposal will be the massive Elefant, a heavy tank destroyer that can trash just about anything coming into its sights.

Fire & Steel is the second expansion pack for the RTS, following Hammer & Shield, which added units to the US, British, and Wehrmacht. The upcoming DLC will be available at a price of $24.99 USD.

There are also two free battlegroups, one for the British and one of the Afrikakorps, which can be claimed for free in the game until March 21, 2025.
