VNL Investigates: Fargo daycare responds after children left unattended

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Fargo daycare is addressing safety concerns after they said children were left unattended in their care.

Victorious Christian Kids Academy (VCKA), located near 45th street, confirmed recent allegations of three toddlers found alone in a nearby parking lot under an employee’s supervision.

The incident was posted to social media, explaining an individual found three, roughly 18-month-old children sitting on the concrete behind their facility. The post indicates the kids were returned back to the daycare unharmed.

According to the daycare, the children had unlocked a gate and wandered from the building.

Valley News Live spoke with a VCKA employee who declined to participate in an on-camera interview, or send over an official written statement on the matter.

In a face-to-face conversation with Valley News Live, VCKA confirmed the incident and said the employee involved has since been terminated.

A notice was allegedly sent out to parents detailing the situation and licensing was contacted, but the case has since closed, according to the VCKA.

The daycare added they’re now looking to make policy changes. They said they’re starting to implement new protocols, including taking a head-count of children every 20-30 minutes to ensure safety.

VCKA said child safety is a top priority, and they continue to work to better serve the Fargo-Moorhead community.

Valley News Live has reached out to the creator of the social media post, as well as parents of the daycare, who all declined to comment.
