FALMOUTH, Maine (WGME) — The second annual Falmouth Community Fest Saturday brought laughter, music, and food to Falmouth’s Community Park.
“We have balloon animals, face painting, lots of stuff for kids, so it’s just to bring out everybody in the community. Have a good time and kick off summer,” Amanda Methot-Vigue, Falmouth’s Policy Analyst and Staff to the Community Wellness Committee, said.
After the festival’s successful inaugural year, this year’s event offered more activities, such as arts and crafts, food trucks, live entertainment, and everyone’s favorite: the baby goats.
“It is raining, but our motto this year is ‘take summer back.’ We can’t just sit inside every Saturday when it’s raining out,” Methot-Vigue said.
A handful of local organizations were in attendance, including the Falmouth Historical Society.
David Farnham from the Falmouth Historical Society says their job is share the late stories of Falmouth.
“With four centuries of recorded history, we’ve got lots of stories to tell. You can’t kick over a rock here without finding a story under it,” Farnham said.
Farnham says events like Falmouth Community Fest help the historical society engage with community members.
“It helps them learn more about their town and helps us share our history to inform…future generations,” Farnham went on.
