PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – WTAP Cares Food Drive for Kids has its July drive coming up soon.
Happening on July 3, members of the community are encouraged to donate food to help support less fortunate children in the area.
Donations are accepted at the following locations:
- 1206 Plum St. – Piggly Wiggly
- 4000 Emerson Ave. – Piggly Wiggly
- 110 Gihon Village – Piggly Wiggly
- 100 23 St. Warren’s IGA
- 402 Muskingum Dr. in Marietta
- St Mary’s Galaxy Food Center at 1408 N Pleasants Hwy.
They request donations such as granola bars, crackers, juice boxes, mac and cheese cups, apple sauce, snack packs, and fruit cups. Please be mindful to donate foods that do not require a lot of preparation or extra ingredients, because it is often the child making it for themselves.
The other upcoming dates include September 4 and November 7.
Desni Crock with Advantage Real Estate explains why their company likes to partner with WTAP and help with the food drive.
“Whenever we have the chance, we try to give to the local food pantries whenever we can, we try to give to the homeless shelters, we try to give to go pack, and so that’s what we’re doing now,” Cook said.
They explain that as a family, they believe it’s very important to give back to the community they’re involved in, especially those struggling with food insecurity.
Amped Eletric helped with the May Drive and is excited to help again this time around. They helped to provide transportation, picking up the donated goods and delivering them.
Owner James Maze says it means a lot to them to help with the drive.
“I’m glad that we get to be a part of i,t and I think it’s great because it is a very big problem in the community,” Maze said.
