Food 4 Thought program receives $1,000 donation from Sioux City credit union

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Levo Credit Union celebrated the official grand opening of its Sioux City branch, Thursday afternoon, by donating $1,000 to the East Middle School Food 4 Thought program.

For over a decade, the Food 4 Thought program has provided food during the school year for East Middle School students in need. Students, who are signed up, are given free food bags on Fridays to help get them through the weekend.

Right now, East Middle School’s Food 4 Thought provides around 65 food bags per week.

“Each bag is approximately worth $3, so that $1,000 donation will fill about 300 bags,” said Staci Page, a teacher at East Middle School. “That will get us about 5 weeks of support, which we really appreciate.”

Levo Credit Union will also be taking donations for the Food 4 Thought program; both monetarily, and through food donations.

They’ll have a bin set up in their Sioux City branch until the end of September.
