GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Wednesday marks the 23rd annual Green Bay Kids’ Day, which was started in 2003 by Mayor Jim Schmitt and is held exactly 6 months before Christmas.
It’s a day to have fun around the city of Green Bay with a flurry of free activities.
The day started at the mayor’s office, where Mayor Eric Genrich swore in two kid mayors this morning.
“Ivan and Rhyatt and I have already signed our proclamation in the mayor’s office, so we’re going to proclaim it to be Kids’ Day in the city of Green Bay,” said Mayor Genrich.
For the first time in its 23 years, Kids’ Day has two kid mayors: brothers Ivan and Rhyatt.
“Mayors for the day hereby proclaim June 25th, 2025, as Kids’ Day. We invite all residents and community partners to celebrate, acknowledge, and invest in our community’s youth and their families,” said Mayor Genrich.
Their first order of business after being sworn in? To get some food and have some fun.
“We were going to get ice cream, pizza, and go to Bay Beach,” said Mayor Ivan.
But you don’t have to be a mini mayor to enjoy the free activities.
Any child with a wristband can enjoy the fun, which includes locations like Bay Beach, the wildlife sanctuary, Resch Aquatic Center, the Children’s Museum, and GBASO.
This day is a way for the city to invest in its youngest citizens and encourage people to see what the city has to offer.
