Patrons Bank teams up with Greenlight to help kids learn smart money habits

Patrons Bank has announced a new partnership with Greenlight®, a leading family finance technology company, to offer its customers free† access to Greenlight’s award-winning financial app for kids and teens.

The initiative aims to help families raise financially smart children by providing tools that support earning, saving, giving, and spending — all with parental oversight. The partnership launches as part of the Greenlight for Banks program and is available to Patrons Bank customers starting this week.

Financial education gap drives demand for solutions

A growing body of research shows young people and their parents want more financial education. According to national surveys, 91% of kids and teens say they need better financial skills to achieve their goals, while 94% of parents agree. Yet only 35 states currently require personal finance education in schools, and teens score an average of 64% on the National Financial Literacy Test.

‘Smart money habits should start early — and that learning should be easy, fun, and empowering for the whole family,’ said Jared Cable, president and CEO of Patrons Bank. ‘Through our partnership with Greenlight, we’re giving families a powerful tool to help kids grow up financially confident.’

How the app works

Greenlight provides kids with a debit card and an interactive app experience. Parents can send money, assign chores, set spending limits, and receive real-time alerts, while children gain hands-on experience with budgeting and saving. The app also features Greenlight Level Up™, a gamified learning platform with curriculum-based challenges and rewards.

Patrons Bank customers can claim their free† Greenlight subscription by signing up at greenlight.com/patrons and linking their Patrons account. The first 100 customers will also receive a free custom debit card.
