Several people are already talking about the heat-related illnesses at the Stray Kids concert online, sharing their experiences and concerns.
WASHINGTON — It was a lively Monday night in Navy Yard, but the warm weather reminded everyone to take it easy, especially when the heat got the best of a handful of concertgoers.
According to DC Fire, at 11 p.m., members of the Mass Casualty Task Force were sent to the neighborhood for a report of multiple heat-related illnesses at Nationals Park.
At least five people were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Earlier that same evening, before the concert even started, firefighters had already helped one person who was feeling the effects of the heat nearby. So, in total, six people received care for heat-related symptoms that night.
Heat illnesses can happen when your body gets too hot, especially during outdoor events on warm days. Symptoms might include feeling dizzy, nauseous or really tired. It’s nothing to take lightly, but with quick care, people usually recover well.
DC Fire officials remind everyone to stay hydrated, wear light clothes and find some shade when the temperature rises—especially when you’re out enjoying a big event. It’s always good to listen to your body and take breaks if you need to.
With summer in full swing, it’s just a helpful reminder for all of us to take a few simple steps to stay safe.
