NORTHPORT, Ala. (WBRC) – Nick and Terry Saban are bringing their influence from the football field to more local parks.
Nick’s Kids Foundation worked with the City of Northport to make upgrades to Civitan Park. It was there that Terry Saban joined city leaders to cut the ribbon on a new Nick’s Kids Playground.
Work at the park started in April and ended in mid-June.
In addition to the playground, crews also removed tree stumps, improved the walking track, added a new gazebo and did more landscaping.
Nick’s Kids Foundation contributed part of the $100,000 spent on the playground and other upgrades, according to Northport’s city administrator.
Terry Saban talked about the benefits she hopes the playground will bring to children in Northport.
“You get them out here for exercise and fresh air. And they learn to socialize, they problem solve, they learn to share,” Saban told the crowd who attended the ribbon cutting.
Terry Saban says this is the fourth Nicks Kids playground and that they plan to do more.
