Shooting in Food Lion parking lot leads to Charlotte man’s arrest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A man has been arrested after he allegedly shot another person in a Food Lion parking lot over the weekend.

The shooting happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 at the Food Lion on West Sugar Creek Road in Charlotte.

A warrant confirmed that 50-year-old Timothy Travis Pride was arrested in connection with the shooting, and said that the person he shot was inside a car in the store’s parking lot.

Medic said the man shot was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were called to the store and several of them were spotted throughout the parking lot area, including two who were parked up near one of the grocery store’s doors.

A vehicle bumper was seen in the middle of one parking lot row, but it is unclear if that was in any way related to the shooting.

Records showed that Pride was booked into jail a few hours after the shooting. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Pride was initially being held without bond and was scheduled to appear in Mecklenburg County court on Monday morning.

When contacted for additional information about the shooting, Food Lion said it was deferring questions to police.
