As AthFest comes to a close Sunday, many local Athens favorites came out to ensure guests were well fed and energized. With a food court and tents throughout the festival, a wide variety of options were available for guests to taste and try.
Festivalgoers catching performances early in the day or needing a pick-me-up could visit the Cafe Racer food truck, which served coffee, breakfast biscuits and tacos. The truck also offered dinner options, including burgers, fries and hot dogs.
Big Boy Wings, usually located in the Advance Auto Parts parking lot at 332 North Ave., brought its wings, loaded fries, sliders and steak rolls to downtown Athens for the weekend. With classic flavors like lemon pepper and garlic parmesan, the truck also served variations and combinations of these popular seasonings.
Atlanta-based food truck The Fry Factory was also present in the food court, serving loaded fries and hot dogs. Some of their items included philly cheesesteak and buffalo chicken fries, plus a Korean barbeque hot dog.
The festival was not short on Hispanic street food options. La Pa on Wheels, the food truck for Athens favorite Taqueria La Parrilla, dished out tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and churros. La Chancla also offered Mexican cuisine, including street corn.
La Michoacana Es Natural had a truck located near the entrance of the Hull Street stage. Serving paletas with dairy and non-dairy options, one standout item was the Mangonada — a blend of mango sherbet, mango chunks, Tajín and chamoy.
Wicked Weed Brewing, the main sponsor of the event and a North Carolina-based brewery, had beer tents around the festival grounds. The company also operated a truck in the artist market, where guests could get an open container wristband. From light IPAs to the blue raspberry sour “Blue Razz Burst,” a variety of Wicked Weed beers were available throughout the festival.
