What are charter schools in Arizona? What to know
Charter school enrollment is growing in Arizona, but what’s the difference between a charter and your neighborhood district school?
The Republic
Queen Creek Unified School District parents will be able to get live updates about their child’s school transportation beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
The My Ride K-12 app is designed to alleviate parent anxiety about school transportation, including concerns about missing the bus.
Parents will be able to receive cell phone notifications when their child’s school bus is experiencing issues or delays, estimated time of arrival messages and alerts when their child’s bus is nearby. Through the app, parents can monitor a live feed of their child’s school bus route and location.
Students will now scan their IDs when entering and exiting the bus, allowing parents to track a student’s ridership history. If a student gets on the wrong bus or gets off at an unexpected stop, the driver will be notified before continuing their route.
Queen Creek Unified began testing the new software with families of students in its summer school program and will roll out the new feature districtwide in August. The district will be hosting information sessions during back-to-school events for parents to familiarize themselves with the new system.
Parents can install the My Ride K-12 app on compatible devices running Android or iOS. The app allows parents to manage notifications and customize a student’s weekly bus schedule.
