Editorial | A bloody failure: Israel must let the UN take over Gaza food distribution system

“Every time we know that there’s a so-called food distribution, we know that there’s going to be annihilation,” Dr. Mark Brunner, a physician from Oregon who is volunteering at Khan Yunis’ Nasser Hospital, said Tuesday. It’s been a month since Israel set up a new food distribution system in the Strip, and Brunner was proved right once again: The aid areas have become death traps. The new system has failed by every parameter: Not only does it not prevent famine, but also it jeopardizes the lives of Gazans and does not even guarantee that the food won’t end up supporting Hamas.
