The Carteret County Public Library is offering a variety of engaging summer programs for children of all ages. The summer reading program is already underway, allowing children to read and track their minutes to win prizes.
On June 27, the Western Carteret Library will host a play-writing course. Additionally, a partnership with the Humane Society will bring children to the Newport branch on June 23. Millie Sparks, the outreach coordinator, said, “And we’re going to be asking them to draw pictures of the different animals that are there at the shelter, and write a letter like they’re that animal asking to be adopted.”
Judy Lane, the West Carteret Library branch manager, highlighted one of the larger programs scheduled for August 2 at the Western branch. “One of our larger programs that will take place August the 2nd at the Western branch location will be Dr. Olifant – she’s known as the shark lady,” Lane said. “And she’ll do a fossil dig for the kids at the end of the program.”
The library system is offering a range of summer programs across all its locations, ensuring plenty of opportunities for children to learn and have fun.
