PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Sure, you know the splash pad is a free activity for your kids. So is that concert in the park, but that won’t keep kids entertained all summer long.
“You don’t actually have to spend a lot of money to have fun,” said money-saving expert Andrea Woroch. “You just have to spend a little time doing the research to find the free fun.”
For the little ones, check out free workshops and classes. “Stores like the Home Depot offer free kids workshops on the first Saturday of every month and they build things like model race cars, and planters and crafts,” Woroch said.
Kids can bowl for free, too. “Go to KidsBowlFree.com. There are hundreds of participating bowling centers across the country that offer two free games every day to kids during the summer, and that could even be something you do while you’re traveling,” Woroch suggested.
Beat the heat with discounted movies, for certain films and times. Tickets for Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse are $1.75. Regal’s Summer Movie Express offers $1 family movies. Harkins Theatres’ Summer Movie Fun is an $8 digital pass for eight movies.
Don’t forget about kids’ meal deals. The Chandler-based Kids Eat Free app puts all of the information about freebies in one place, based on location.
“The free kids meals are usually only offered with the purchase of an adult entrée, and if you want two kids’ meals, you need to purchase two entrees,” Woroch said. “But considering, especially those little kids, they don’t always eat everything, it’s great way to offset some of those dining costs.”
