In a world increasingly driven by screens, schedules, and structured learning, the simple act of wonder can feel like a lost art. But a sense of wonder is one of the most powerful tools our kids can possess: It fuels curiosity, fosters creativity, and lays the foundation for lifelong learning. As Carl Sagan says, “Bright, curious children are a national and world resource. They need to be cared for, cherished, and encouraged.”
With the arrival of summer, where schedules relax and time feels more spacious, we have the precious opportunity to think about and intentionally “care for, cherish, and encourage” wonder in our children’s lives. The beauty of this is that, as we look for it and nurture their sense of wonder, it sparks the same feeling in us.
