A top Jersey Shore food town just got a new restaurant. Here’s what we know.

A new eatery helmed by a popular New Jersey restaurant group just opened at the Jersey Shore.

Ellis’ Chicken & Crab Cakes, a new concept from Tide Table Group, opened Friday in Beach Haven.

The BYOB restaurant features 33 indoor seats plus outdoor seating and a menu influenced by other restaurants in the group’s portfolio.

Tide Table Group currently operates six spots throughout the Jersey Shore: Mud City Crabhouse and Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House in Manahawkin, Ship Bottom Shellfish in Ship Bottom as well as Black Whale Bar & Fish House, Bird & Betty’s and Parker’s Garage in Beach Haven. The group’s next restaurant, Hollow Pines, is set to open this year in Eagleswood Township.

Ellis’ Chicken & Crab Cakes’ menu features dishes like fried chicken from Parker’s Garage, the house salad from Black Whale Bar & Fish House, pies from Ship Bottom Shellfish and crab cakes from all the restaurants.

Fried chicken and crab cake sandwiches, shrimp, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, cornbread, pie and other side dishes round out the menu.

The new chicken and crab cake spot is spearheaded by the group’s operations manager, Billy Mehl as well as Kyle Baddorf, the executive chef at Parker’s Garage and Bird & Betty’s.

Ellis’ Chicken & Crab Cakes is named after local bayman and decoy carver Ellis Parker, who ran a boat rental and repair shop and restaurant on Long Beach Island in the early 1900s. The boat shop and eatery was one of the first establishments in Beach Haven to have a liquor license after prohibition.
