Local makeup and fashion brands converge at the Glow Filipina pop-up store that runs until June 30 at SM Makati.
With the theme “Your look. Your Style. All Local,” these brands from the collections of SM Beauty and Kultura aim to empower the modern Filipino woman to make her own rules when it comes to fashion and beauty.
And from makeup products that complement the Filipino woman’s sun-kissed skin tone to handwoven accessories, this one-stop shop also champions the local artisans whose handcrafted products help her create a beauty statement that is confident, and uniquely hers.
“This was conceptualized to celebrate indie makeup brands and local fashion. It’s an exercise in empowerment and self-expression. Especially with women today, they don’t want to be put in a box. It’s their story, their own way, interpreted the way they want it to be without having to really be constrained by what other people think. We want them to be proud of who they are and how they express their self not just with the way they look and feel. Actually, fashion and makeup make you feel different inside, not just changes the way you look outside. So, it’s transformative on many levels — how you feel and how you look,” says Kultura marketing consultant Felicia Velasco.
Makeup mavens will find local cosmetic brands BLK, Careline, Ever Bilena, Happy Skin, Issy, Spotlight, Teviant and Vice in this pop-up store. For uniquely Filipina fashion pieces, you’ll find Filipiniana and ready-to-wear clothing by Berches, Binibining Marikit, Matthew and Melka, Nuevo Ystilo and Rurungan, to name a few.
Handcrafted bags and accessories by Anmari, Carioca, Intricado and Jim Weaver are also on display. Girls can add a pop of color to their look — or a touch of elegance — with jewelry and pearls by Boho Manila, Khai Pearl, My Gems and Pamanna Jewellery.
Of course, real beauty is not only skin-deep, but comes from being healthy. Cacao products — that are rich in minerals and antioxidants that improve heart health and mood — from award-winning brands Auro and Theo & Philo are also available at the Glow Filipina pop-up store.
Each purchase does not only allow you to explore and create a look that truly expresses yourself — it supports the community of artisans and weavers whose products carry the stories of Filipino craftsmanship and heritage.
