VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — CLICK TO DONATE
As inflation continues to push the cost of living higher, CBS12 News is partnering with local food banks this summer to get food on the table for families in our area.
This week, the Feed the Need campaign heads up to Vero Beach to join the Food Pantry of Indian River County in its fight against hunger.
The organization has been providing food to disadvantaged and unemployed people in Indian River County since the early 2000s, serving more than 250,000 meals every year. In the past three months alone, they have distributed 7,500 pounds of food.
Director of Development Mark Rice said they have started distributing food twice a month to meet the growing demand.
“If you’re really out of food, we’re going to feed you,” Rice said. “We feed everyone who comes to the window, no matter what. We’re here to feed people.”

The food pantry operates out of First Baptist Church off 16th Avenue, and they have an easy and accessible walk-up window.
