Halo’s Eatery to open takeout restaurant in Columbia with Latin American food

Halo’s Eatery, which operates a food truck selling Latin American dishes, is opening a takeout restaurant in Columbia.

Expected to debut in August, the new restaurant will take a spot at 301 Cherry St. that was formerly occupied by Kristen’s Katering, which has moved to 34 W. Market St. in Marietta.

In Columbia, Halo’s Eatery will have a dedicated kitchen supplying its food truck as well as to-go orders. The menu features empanadas as well as rice and beans or macaroni and cheese bowls topped with vegetables and pork or jerk chicken.

Halo’s Eatery is owned by Angel and Kristin Mejias, a married couple who launched their food truck two years ago.
