Rural Virginia food bank in limbo as Trump tax bill’s cuts to SNAP move through Congress

In the Blue Ridge Mountains, the local food bank in Salem, Virginia — Feeding Southwest Virginia — provides food to a growing number of residents. President Trump’s tax bill, making its way through the U.S. Senate, includes cuts to the food assistance program known as SNAP.

Here & Now‘s Scott Tong talked with Pamela Irvine, the food bank’s CEO, about the impact those cuts will have in a region grappling with food insecurity.
