Atlanta Summer Food Program returns to feed lower-income children across metro area

The Atlanta Summer Food Program has returned for another year.

The City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation has partnered with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning’s Bright from the Start program to provide meals to children in low-income areas.

The program began services on June 9 and will end on July 25, serving lunch onsite to children and teenagers up to the age of 18. Participants already enrolled in the city’s Camp Best Friends program are automatically eligible for free breakfast and lunch.

Sites will be located at seven City of Atlanta outdoor pools, four Atlanta-Fulton Public Library locations and one splash pad.

To assist those without adequate access to transportation, the program will continue the Mobile Feeding Program on Wheels.
