2nd annual Cars and Cookies car show honors memory of Parkland grad battling colorectal cancer

MACUNGIE, Pa. – The second annual Cars and Cookies car show was held in remembrance of a Lehigh Valley resident and Parkland High School grad, Glen McCartney.

In 2019, at 34 years old, Glen was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He passed away just under a year later.

The community auto showcase benefits the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

We spoke with his family who put this event together.

“It’s unfortunate, they really haven’t found why young onset is happening at the rate that it’s happening. This events to honor him and his love of cookies, which his mom was a phenomenal baker,” said Glen McCartney, his father. “Hopefully most of the people came out and enjoyed the cookies. I know they enjoyed the cars and we look forward to doing this every year.”

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., yet it’s highly preventable with early screening and education.
