Six food pantries in Southwest Michigan received much-needed help in the form of over 28,800 pounds of nonperishable food.
The generous donation came from the Kalamazoo Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with support from volunteers, missionaries, and others.

Air quality alert issued for multiple Michigan counties due to elevated levels
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Advisory for Monday, June 2, due to elevated levels of fine particulates (PM2.5).
The pollutants are expected to reach the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” range.

The barns are opening up at part two of Gene the Pumpkin Man estate sale
The second estate sale in honor of local legend Gene “The Pumpkin Man” Rhodes starts Wednesday.
Rhodes, more commonly known as Gene the Pumpkin Man, passed away in December 2024. He was the third generation to farm his property along M-43 in Kalamazoo, and after starting to sell pumpkins in 1957, families began visiting his farm for decades to enjoy fall festivities, including pumpkin picking.
Fired Kalamazoo pediatrician files lawsuit against Bronson Healthcare
A pediatrician fired by Bronson Healthcare filed a defamation lawsuit against the company Thursday.
In January, Dr. Justine Bunka and her colleague Dr. Randy Dyk were let go from Rambling Road Pediatrics by Bronson Healthcare in Oshtemo Township.
