SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) – The Food Bank of Siouxland held the Siouxland Food Festival Saturday, June 7 at the Marriott Event Center in South Sioux City.
The food festival, which is the food bank’s biggest fundraising event of the year, had 11 vendors from around Siouxland serving food.
The associate executive director for the Food Bank of Siouxland, Valerie Petersen, says this event serves a huge need in the community.
“Hunger is at a high in our community right now,” Said Petersen. “One in every nine people is touched by food insecurity and there’s a lot of need out there. So, we use this event as a way to raise awareness, and also to raise funds for our community.”
Participants got to play carnival games and enter to win gift cards and raffle prizes. The event also had entertainment by ‘1 Piano 2 Much Fun! Show’.
