Muscle cars, motorcycles, drag racers and airplanes were among the 680 vehicles shown at Sunday’s Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show at Boys Republic in Chino Hills. The annual event was held in honor of Friends of Steve McQueen co-founder Chad McQueen, who died Sept. 11, 2024 at age 63. Mr. McQueen, an actor featured in the original and second Karate Kid movies, was the only son and last living child of actor Steve McQueen, who spent time at Boys Republic in Chino Hills in 1946 when he was 16 years old. The written program distributed at the event featured tributes to Chad McQueen. The theme of this year’s show was “Festival of Speed,” and was attended by more than 11,000 people, Boys Republic development director Rose Anderson said. Proceeds, which will be finalized in about two weeks, benefit Boys Republic, a private all-boys school for trouble adolescents. that opened in 1907.
