Xi’an Famous Foods, the popular Chinese chain from New York City, has officially expanded to the Washington, D.C. area. Known for its hand-pulled noodles and spicy cumin lamb burger, the restaurant now offers takeout and delivery in Alexandria.
The chain operates out of Four Mile Food Co., a ghost kitchen at 1033 W Glebe Rd., where it recently started serving customers in the area.
You can find Xi’an Famous Foods’ signature dishes on the menu, including biang-biang noodles, dumplings with their special dipping sauce, and vinegary cold noodles (liang pi). Customers can place orders online through Four Mile Food Co.’s website or major delivery apps.
Alexandria and Boston are among Xi’an Famous Foods’ first locations outside of New York City, where it has over 15 restaurants. The family-run business, owned by the father-son team of David Shi and Jason Wang, has been serving northwestern Chinese cuisine from Shaanxi Province since 2005.
According to the restaurant’s website, Anthony Bourdain visited the restaurant shortly after it opened in the Golden Shopping Mall’s basement food court in New York City, and that’s when “things got a little crazy”.
In Alexandria, Xi’an Famous Foods is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On weekends, they offer continuous service from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
Xi’an Famous Foods joins more than 20 other vendors at Four Mile Food Co., including D.C. soul food favorite Oohh’s and Aahh’s, NuVegan Cafe, and Flavor Hive.
