ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – On Glenwood Road at Columbia Drive in a vacant parking lot, there is often a food truck parked at night known as the Oyster Corner.
“I would go every day. They have macaroni and cheese baked with some type of meat in it. Some seafood meat or something and man that stuff is the bomb,” said Oyster Corner customer Trevor Harris.
People in this part of Decatur have become accustomed to seeing the food truck operating out of an old school bus.
“They only came out at night, so I figured something wasn’t right,” resident Felicia Prince said.
It turns out something wasn’t right. Dekalb County acted on a tip and sent someone out to investigate the business.
The DeKalb County Environmental Health Department said, “An inspector conducted surveillance on the evening of April 16, 2025, and confirmed that there was an unpermitted food truck cooking and selling food to the public.”
Then, on May 30, DeKalb County conducted a joint investigation with code enforcement issuing a handful of citations.
The DeKalb County Environmental Health Department said, “One citation was issued from DeKalb Public Health for unlawfully operating a food truck, including cooking, and selling food to the public without a food service permit.”
“Well now I’m not going to go over there anymore until they get legal,” Harris said.
Surprisingly, an investigation discovered the business is still promoting pop-up locations on Instagram even after being cited. The county is aware and is investigating.
“It doesn’t make me feel good because one thing about seafood in this heat is it will kill you,” Prince said.
Atlanta News First tried to contact the owner of the food truck for comment but was not able to reach him. That said, it spoke with some of the businesses in the area and they said they have been frustrated with the food truck operator leaving a bunch of trash behind.
