NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The North Platte Community Playhouse is putting on a children’s theater camp for kids K-12.
Kids going into grades 5-12 began their camp on Monday and kids going into grades K-4 will begin their camp next Tuesday.
This year, the show is Shrek the Musical Jr.
Sue McKain and Bea Webster have been putting on children’s performances at the North Platte Community Playhouse for about six years.
“The camps are for anybody. A lot of times those kids are in the performance at the end, but it’s just a lot of fun and it’s an opportunity for kids to get on stage,” Webster said. “The thing I love the most about it is all of the comradery that the kids have. It’s an opportunity for them to make new friends. It’s an opportunity for them to be in a place where they’re not judged. It’s always just a lot of fun in general.”
If you didn’t have the chance to sign up your kids for camp, they can audition for the official production of Shrek the Musical Jr. on June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. with performances the last two weekends of July.
