WALKERTON, Ind. (WSBT) — A car show and funeral service honored Walkerton Police Officer James R. Christie on Wednesday.
The 67-year-old retired in 2020 but worked as a patrolman for the department until his passing.
Christie was a cop for 40-plus years, spending 30 of those years working with the Walkerton Police Department.
“Being a police officer in a small town who’s come to know virtually everybody here everybody knows who Jim Christie is, they all know his passion for the community, his love for the community, his service for the community over the years,” said Chief Matt Schalliol, Walkerton Police Department.
Those at Wednesday’s service recalled Christie’s love of classic cars and his impact on the community.
