It seems like only yesterday Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding made headlines around the world. Now, seven years later, their kids Archie and Lilibet are the closest thing we have to American royals.
In a 2024 Good Morning America appearance, Harry remarked at how “grateful” he was to be a father. “The kids are doing great,” The Duke of Sussex said. “The kids are growing up like all kids do, very, very fast. They’ve both got an incredible sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day, like most kids do. I’m just grateful to be a dad.”
The Duchess of Sussex is also over the moon for her children. In a Mother’s Day Instagram post, Markle wrote about the everyday joys of being a mom. “And to these two gems – who still attempt to climb “mama mountain”, smother me with kisses, and make every day the most memorable adventure,” she wrote. “Being your mom is the greatest privilege of my life.”

In their Netflix documentary, ‘Harry & Meghan,’ the two spoke candidly about their approach to parenthood. “What’s most important for the two of us is to make sure that we don’t repeat the same mistakes that perhaps our parents made,” Harry said. Meghan echoed his statement. “There’s so much I think from anyone’s childhood that you bring with you into the present,” she said. “Especially when you’re the product of divorce.”

After relocating to California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their second child, Princess Lilibet Diana. Born on June 4, 2021, Lilibet carries on the legacy of her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, (whose childhood nickname was Lilibet) and her late grandmother, Princess Diana of Wales, through her first and middle names.
The couple announced “Lili’s” birth through a sweet announcement on the Archewell Foundation’s website. “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” they wrote. “Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
The Sussex’s 2021 Christmas Card also noted Princess Lilibet’s introduction to the world. “This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family,” they wrote.

On an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Markle talked about how Archie was adjusting to his new role as a big brother. He “loves being a big brother,” she said “Everyone talks about what it’s like for the second child, but no one talks about the adjustment for the first child when the second one comes along,” she said. “So I think they have this moment of, ‘Oh, this is fun. Oh, this how it is now.’ ”
In 2022, Lilibet also likely met her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, and her Grandfather, now King Charles. That year, Harry and Meghan traveled to the U.K. to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
In June 2025, Lilibet turned four. Markle celebrated on Instagram, writing, “Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it.”
