Graham gearing up for 10th annual Food Truck Championship

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The clock is ticking down to Graham’s 10th annual Food Truck Championship this weekend. The staff at Visit Graham is excited to host the event and said it’s shaping up to be the town’s biggest celebration yet.

Visit Graham Executive Director Zach Balch said the team has made a few changes to the downtown square to accommodate some new surprises for eventgoers this year.

“This is our 10th year and it’s our biggest year. This year we have over 50 food trucks, so it is our largest by a handful of trucks,“ Balch said.

This weekend, the largest downtown square in America will be filled with food trucks, serving up a variety of dishes and desserts to attendees.

Staff at Graham’s tourism office say they’re especially excited about a few changes made to help make this the biggest year yet.

“This year’s event has our art walk, our children’s activities, live music throughout the day. One notable difference this year over other years is that the old Post Office Museum and Art Center is open with their exhibit by Rob Kendrick, a National Geographic photographer,“ Balch said.

He went on to say that the staff is looking at past years’ success as a benchmark.

So, he and the Visit Graham team are measuring this year’s success in a few keyways.

“We hope to see all of our hotel rooms full. That is the first measure of success for our events. Are people coming? Are they here? I think the other measure of success for us is just seeing smiling faces and people eating food,“ Balch said.

As the event continues to grow year after year, thanks to local businesses and event sponsors, Balch said the opportunities are limitless.

“It’s hard to imagine getting bigger year to year, but somehow, we managed to do it. Even though our space isn’t actually getting any bigger, we are finding new, clever, creative ways to utilize the space that we do have. This is, after all, the largest downtown square,“ Balch said.

There are a few things to keep in mind for visitors who plan to attend the event.

Parking will be limited, so be prepared to park on city streets and walk to the square, and outside alcohol will not be allowed, but there will be a vendor on-site.
