The analyst recently went live on ESPN and disrespected hockey fans, mentioning that fans of real sport would watch basketball, baseball or football. The statement caused backlash, as NHL fans rallied behind their favourite sport. This sparked an online conversation about whether the network respects the sport. Responding to the video, an NHL fan wrote, “Imagine airing this as the rights holder for the sport. How can they constantly whine about ratings and simultaneously air a dude going “hockey sucks and their fans are dumb”. Great move ESPN.” On the other hand, another wrote, “ESPN giving airtime to morons. What else is new. The average TikTok analyst makes more interesting points and is more entertaining.
