NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Annual Food Truck Battle revived on Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the Great Northern Mall. Earlier in May, day two was cancelled halfway due to strong winds and a heavy rainstorm.
While for most, the battle may be all about the food, the food truck operators have a bit of a different view. Saturday was all about coming together to support one of their own.
Brianna Petrocci works with the Food Truck Association. This past Memorial Day, her home burned down, taking her dog with it. It happened while she was at a picnic with her friend. When Petrocci arrived back home, she saw it burning down, with her rescue dog, Jackson, stuck inside.
Members of the Food Truck Association described themselves as a tight-knit family. When they heard the news, they decided to come together to support Petrocci.
They created a GoFundMe page to raise money for Petrocci to be able to get back some of the things she lost.
She explained that material items are just materials.
“You’ve got to keep memories alive, keep making them and keep sharing them,” said Petrocci.
