LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – At the Lawton Public Library, a partnership with the Lawton Fire Department helped local kids learn more about fire safety through a scavenger hunt.
The hunt featured different fire safety-related themes to help the participants learn more about keeping themselves safe, while also getting to meet firefighters and explore fire equipment.
It’s something that those helping put on the event say is a great refresher and a good time.
“I just want to be a little bit more in-depth with the community,” said Jason Romero with the Lawton Fire Prevention Department. “Do a little scavenger hunt, do something fun for kids to come out, especially during summertime, where they don’t get to experience that during the school year. They may have forgotten some things. It’s always just a great refresher for our kids to know what to do just in case of a fire emergency and also just fun things for the kids to get out and do during he summer.”
The event was also a part of the library’s Summer Kickoff Series. You can find more events at the library through our Community Calendar.
