Honey Dip Delights, a family-owned food truck business, has become a beloved fixture at the Clarksburg Outlets and various events throughout Montgomery County. On Friday, despite a brewing thunderstorm, dozens braved the elements to savor the truck’s famous mini donuts during the Quince Orchard Knolls neighborhood “Food Truck Friday” event in Gaithersburg (photos below).
Founded by Sherwood High School graduate Basil Kourkounakis just a year ago, Honey Dip Delights was born from a shared passion for creating tasty, feel-good treats. In addition to its renowned mini donuts, the food truck offers a variety of delicious fare, including handcrafted frozen fruit smoothies and quality coffee.
As heavy rain began to fall, several customers who had arrived early decided to linger and order. “We always go to the outlets, so when we heard they were coming to our neighborhood, we had to stop by,” said Janet L. The willingness of patrons to brave inclement weather is a testament to the truck’s growing popularity and the loyal following it has cultivated.
Basil credits his wife Angie, a former owner of Java Works Cafe in Dewey Beach and graduate of Gaithersburg High School, with helping him refine his barista skills and supporting the business. Family involvement is a key part of the operation, with Angie and their children working together and learning the values of hard work and teamwork.
The food truck’s home base is located upstairs by the Polo Outlet at the Clarksburg Outlets, where it operates according to the following schedule:
• Sunday: 12 PM – 6 PM
• Monday – Tuesday: Closed
• Wednesday: 12 PM – 7 PM
• Thursday: 12 PM – 7 PM
• Friday: 12 PM – 7 PM
• Saturday: 12 PM – 8 PM
When the truck is not at its home base, it can be found participating in local farmers markets, community gatherings, school events, and private functions.
