Federal prosecutors: Long Islander tied to $66 million food stamp fraud scheme

A Long Islander is accused of what federal prosecutors say is one of the largest food stamp fraud schemes in American history.

According to officials, Michael Kehoe and four others stole $66 million from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) since 2019.

The indictment says a department of agriculture employee stole EBT license numbers.

Kehoe then sold them to ineligible businesses like smoke shops.Everyone in the scheme got kickbacks.
