Deputies searching for suspect who shot at car with kids inside in central Arizona

COTTONWOOD, AZ (AZFamily) — The search is on for an armed suspect accused of shooting at a vehicle with children inside this week in central Arizona.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said that around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, 19-year-old Alejandro Pereza-Pasos was reported to have shot at another vehicle in Cottonwood.

YCSO said a driver reported being shot at by Pereza-Pasos, whose vehicle was turning from Western Drive onto Pleasant Valley Drive. YCSO did not specify how many kids were in the car that was shot at or how old they were. The sheriff’s office said Pereza-Pasos and the driver who was shot at knew each other.

SWAT deputies were able to get a search warrant to look for Pereza-Pasos, but they did not find him.

Pereza-Pasos is currently at large. YCSO is asking for the public’s assistance in finding him, and they said he’s known to frequent Cottonwood, Clarkdale and Sedona.

Anyone with information that could assist deputies in finding Pereza-Pasos should call the sheriff’s office at 928-771-3260, or remain anonymous by calling Silent Witness at 800-932-3232. There is eligibility for a cash reward for a tip that leads to an arrest.
