UE students hosts summer library event for kids

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – University of Evansville athletes are hoping to help children “Ace the Summer” in a new event at the Evansville Public Library.

Children could meet-and-greet UE student-athletes at the EVPL McCullough Branch.

The students shared their favorite books and stories, and also shared insight into a winning mindset to help them succeed on and off the field.

One of the UE players says how important it is to do events like these for the kids.

“I think it’s important just to try to urge kids to keep reading and how important it is especially with technologies these days like to encourage him to keep coming to library,” says soccer player Ella Hanner.

Each of the kids received autographs from the athletes and even photos with them to remember the big day.
