Volunteers needed as mobile food pantry events come to Baraga and KI Sawyer Wednesday

UPPER MICHIGAN, (WLUC) – Feeding America West Michigan and its mobile food pantries are back in the Upper Peninsula Wednesday, helping families in the Baraga and KI Sawyer communities.

The first pantry takes place in the north parking lot of the Ojibwa Casino, at 16449 Michigan Avenue in Baraga. Volunteers will begin distributing food at noon Eastern time.

The second pantry is located at Building 604, on the corner of Avenue C and Third Street, in KI Sawyer. Food distribution there also begins at noon Eastern time. Yoopers United is helping distribute food for the event and still has several openings for volunteers. Each volunteer shift runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Attendees may be asked for the name, address, and household size for any family they’re picking food up for. Both pantries are drive-thru events. It is asked that everyone stay in their vehicles.
